Natural Stone

DSC8531.webp

Natural stone countertops are a premium choice for kitchens and bathrooms, valued for their durability, heat resistance, and unique natural beauty. They’re cut directly from quarried rock, meaning every slab has one-of-a-kind patterns and colors.

Here’s a clear breakdown of the most popular natural stone options you’ll see for countertops—and what makes each one different.

Granite

Granite is a very hard igneous rock formed from cooled magma deep underground. Its structure is made of tightly interlocked mineral crystals, which gives it high strength and durability.

It resists heat, scratching, and most everyday wear very well, making it ideal for heavy kitchen use. However, it has slight natural porosity, so it can absorb liquids over time and usually needs periodic sealing.

Marble

Marble is a metamorphic stone that forms when limestone is exposed to heat and pressure. Its structure is more compact but softer compared to other stones.

Because of this, it is more prone to scratching, staining, and reacting to acids (like lemon juice or vinegar). It often requires more maintenance and careful use.

Quartzite

Quartzite is a metamorphic rock made from sandstone that has been compressed and heated until the grains fuse together. This process creates a very dense and extremely hard surface—often harder than granite.

It is highly resistant to heat and scratching, but like most natural stone, it is still somewhat porous and needs sealing to prevent stains.
